Club Officers,
Reminder that the year-end Sport Club Federation banquet is tomorrow night at 6:00pm on SRC Court 7. If anyone is interested in standing for office for next year's SCF Council we are still looking for nominations. This is a great opportunity to be more heavily involved in the SCF decision making process and also would look good on a resume. If you or anyone on your club is interested please send Carly, Nick, or I an email with your nomination by Noon on April 30.
Additionally we will be serving pizza at the banquet and each club needs to turn in their semester end report (attached) by tomorrow night. Please let me know if you have any questions and hope to see you tomorrow night.

WSU Sailors,
It's time to get the season started. We will begin with a recruiting event at the SRC's Backyard Bash followed by BBQ at the sailing house. Please join us at the Bash this Sunday, 3pm and help us recruit. Feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have.
See you there,
Cameron
Our monthly meeting will be tonight 7pm at Scott's house, Wheatridge B304. Meeting is mandatory, bring any dues or donations or money for sweatshirts.
See you tonight.
We have more sweatshirts available, if you didn't get a chance to pre-order.
Several Mediums, some Large, some Small. They're going quick but if you'd like one, call or e-mail me right away.
They're $25. Profits go towards maintaining our boats and equipment and towards some regattas with things like camping/lodging fees. So basically, you get a cool new sweatshirt and in the long run you're benefitting from the money also!
Thanks,
Angela Congdon

First off, I put some videos on the website of good roll tacking examples.
http://sailing.wsu.edu/sailing_racing_videos.aspx
Next, we will start having a tuesday practice also. Tuesday 3:15 to 6:30.
Also just some rules for practice a equipment.
Be sure to keep everything clean and organized in the shop. We dont want to give them any reason to stop letting us store stuff there. Put the rudders and tillers in the locker, the blue box in a big locker and the sails on top. If anything is wet make sure you dry it out. Dont put sails or sheets away wet. Lay them out, but not it the way of anything. Also make sure you put sails in the correct bags.
Scott
We were thinking of having a Tuesday practice also. It would probably be the same time 3:15. If you are interested send me an email really soon. Thanks,
Scott
Here is the practice schedule for the rest of the semester based on input i recieved at the last meeting.
Monday 3:15-6:30
Thursday 3:15-6:30
I want everyone to go to both practices if possible, but you must go to at least one practice a week. Who can drive on Thursdays? We need at least a couple people to drive.
Don't forget we have disrict champs in two weeks at Seattle, so we need to practice hard. Check out NWICSA for the NOR.
See you at practice on Monday.

Quick overview of tonight's meeting:
*Next regatta is Co-Ed Champs at UW, March 29-30. It's going to be really fun! If you want to go then let us know now.
*We're making a schedule to start practices after Spring Break. If you weren't at the meeting, reply back before break of the days and times you are available.
Sweatshirts:
I'm going to give a deadline of March 21st, the Friday after break to get your sweatshirt otherwise I am going to sell them to anyone, even if you pre-ordered.
So e-mail me acongdon@wsu.edu or call 206-909-3010 to arrange a pick-up, either before or after break. And there are a few extras (limited sizes), so let me know if you still want one.
Thanks,

Hey,
so this weekend is the team race on orcas island. we have the following people signed up so far.
cameron
angela
butterfly
flower
dcubed
ramo
ruel ??
bjorn
phil
ryan l.
dan
michael g.
aaron f.
Only 6 people can sail in a team race, so if everyone comes many people will not be sailing. But you are still welcome to come and watch. We will be camping, so it should be very fun. I heard BAQwinded will be performing, so that should be good. Give me a shout if you want to be on this list, or not.
We would be leaving sometime on friday afternoon, coming back sunday night.
Peace out,
Scott Wilson

Here are some important things that we covered in last night's meeting if you didn't make it. Although, be sure to come next time!
First, we will be recruiting at a table in front of the rec center 3-6pm TODAY! Please stop by and say hi or even stick around for a bit to share your knowledge about sailing!
There is a clinic this weekend at UW. We have a lot of people going, which is great! It's not too late. E-mail Scott today if you want to go scottjwilson@gmail.com.
Also, there is team racing next weekend, Feb 23rd-24th on Orcas Island. It's going to be a blast. So if you want to go or have questions about team racing itself, e-mail Scott right away.
If you'd like to go to the regatta in Victoria, Canada on April 10th-11th then get your passport right now. It takes a while to process, no matter where you get it from. Trust me...I know.
For fundraising, we'll be shoveling snow for residents/businesses of Pullman. So be ready to hear more about that.
We are also getting sweatshirts. They look like this. http://sailing.wsu.edu/sailing_info_merchandise.aspx
The predicted amount is $25-30 (most likely $25) so I am taking a preorder. This doesn't mean you have to pay now. I want to get an idea of how many sweatshirts to order without having too many leftovers.
E-mail me with your size by this coming Mon Feb 18th. acongdon@wsu.edu
That's all,

Guess what! It's time for our monthly team meeting. I know there's lots of snow and your car may still be buried to the windows, but it is important that you come. You will have a chance to sign up for upcoming regattas and see what's in store for the rest of the season.
It is at 7pm, Wednesday 2/6, at Scott & Diana's (1645 NE Merman Dr Apt B304). Please call if you need a ride. Or you can always take the bus :)
See you there!

Here's a little summary of the meeting for those of you who missed it tonight.
We have a lot of fun regattas to look forward to this spring. A schedule of the dates are on our team website at www.wsusailing.com. So keep your calendar open.
Also, the regatta in Victoria, Canada will require passports for travel. Get one right now if you'd like to go because they take quite a while to process.
We will start to have regular practices later, after the snow melts. But if you'd like to sail now, just call any of the officers and we can arrange something.
It's time to collect dues again! $40 for the semester to practice with us and compete in regattas. This must be turned in to Diana, our secretary, before your first race.
There are also lots of cool t-shirts left. Only $12! And you can also pay Diana for that at the same time as your dues! They are great to wear around school and to show off to your friends.
That's all, let me know if you have any questions.

So apparently we are first on the waiting list to attend the rose bowl regatta down in LA on jan 5-6. Is anyone interested in going? Unless we get many people interested I will probably tell them we are not going. So let me know.
As for practice this thursday. I have a couple ideas for what we should do, but i have very little time to plan them. If anyone is not busy and could help me with this let me know.
Thanks and see you thursday,
Scott Wilson

We are about to send out our fall newsletter to all our family and friends, so send me your parents and friends addresses so we can send them a newsletter.
Starting this week we will be in "Winter Practice" mode. This means that we will not be practicing at the river, but instead meeting at the shop and either having chalk talks or working on the boats. We will only be meeting on Thursdays during the regular practice time of 3-6 at the shop. If there is anything specific that you would like to learn let me know.
See you Thursday,
Scott Wilson

Great job to everyone who went to Cougar Cup. It was very successful and you all did very well given the difficult conditions. And congratulations to team 1, Scott, Charissa, Nick, and Angela for placing 3rd overall only losing to the two UW teams.
Unfortunatly, UW has decided to charge $50 per charter for singlehands this weekend. Since we had 9 people sign up, we would have to pay 450 dollars for charters. We can not afford this as a club since we are saving for a new boat. So that means that anyone who wants to go will have to pay that 50 dollars themselves. Given this new information I need to know very soon if you would still like to go.
Thanks,
Scott Wilson

Hello Cougar Cup Sailors!
We have a great weekend of sailing planned. Please remember to bring with you:
- Sleeping bag, tent if you have it, and any camping gear you like to have. We have tent space for five people. That means we need space for at least four more people. If anyone else has a tent and can bring it, please let us know right away.
- Food for the weekend. There is a small store in Vantage that should supply you fairly well if need be. We will have a barbecue available for use as well. There is also a good restaurant that lots of people prefer.
- A wetsuit, if you think you will need one. These can be rented from the ORC, along with sleeping bags and tents.
- Nevermind about the $5 camping fee; the club is paying for it!
There will be two vehicles leaving at 4:00 pm. Please meet at the shop ready to go at 3:45 pm. Please let us know immediately if you cannot make this time.
Currently these people are confirmed:
Scott
Charissa
Angela
Nick
Cameron
Baxter
Diana
Devin
Tony
Valerie
Phil
If anyone else can go, and is not on this list, we could really use one more person! Currently we have 11 people, which means we need one more if we want a third team. Everyone is welcome.
See you tomorrow! Call if you have any questions.

The Stoney Burke Regatta is in 4 weeks. October 6-7 in SAN FRANCISCO. Do you want to go? For this regatta, since it is in San Francisco, those who go will be asked to pay an extra amount, 30-40 dollars. We would be driving and it would be intense, so if you arent up for that dont plan on going.
If this sounds like something you want to go to, RSVP RIGHT NOW. I need to let them know by the end of the day if we want to go.

Hello team, hope everyone is having a good summer.
We need to decide before August 1st, which intersectionals we would like to attend this fall. Here is a list of the popular intersectionals we should consider. Please look it over and tell me which ones you would like to go to the most.
Stoney Burke - October 6-7 - Berkeley
North South - November 10-11 - UCSB
Rose Bowl - Jan 5-6 - Alamitos Bay YC
My picks are Rose Bowl, North South, then Stoney Burke. The rose bowl regatta is always the last weekend before we go back to school for the spring, so we would not be busy with school.
We will probably only be able to afford one of these regattas, but we will know for sure after school starts.
Also, attached is the spring newsletter i sent out to many of your parents and our alumni. Pass it on to anyone you think would be interested.
Sail a lot this summer. Please email me your picks before August 1st.

The last race of the year is in 2 weeks, at Cascade Locks. The dates are May 12 & 13. We will be camping this time, in tents. There will be a bbq on Saturday with NW district awards. The racing format is 4 divisions 2 fj divisions and 2 laser divisions. Let me know what you would rather do, sail an fj or laser. Since most of us will not be in Pullman we will have to work out rides. When you tell me if you can come or not, let me know where you will be, and if you need a ride or plan to drive yourself. There will be people coming from Bellingham, Seattle, and probably Pullman also so we should be able to get everyone. Below is the NOR for the regatta. If you have any questions let me know.
Please tell me if you can go ASAP.
Thanks and sorry again about the multiple emails.
See you all at the potluck tonight at 7!! Details are at www.wsusailing.com.

Sailing Team,
I just wanted to congratulate those who raced the past two weekends. At Women's Champs two weekends ago Diana, Charissa, Angela, and Lauren did very well. This was the first time we have sent a team to Women's Champs, and they provided the other teams with some good competition.
At Rainier Cup this weekend, Dave, Charissa, Scott, and Angela were speed demons in the varsity fleet. Wind was 15-20 knots most of the weekend, so we are all a little sore. Rachel, Spencer, Bryan, and Lauren wrestled the JV fleet and gained some good heavy wind experience.
Results are posted on the web www.wsusailing.com
I also put a video of this weekend up on the NWICSA website so check that out when you get a chance.
This weekend is the Northwest Coed Champs, so tell me soon if you can make it.
Thanks for all your hard work,

Our April meeting is scheduled for this Thursday at 7:00pm at my place. My address is 1645 NE Merman Apt B304, it is part of the wheatridge condominiums up the hill from Zoe's and the Zzu.
We have a bunch of races coming up, so get yourselves to this meeting we can discuss the races, whos going, and other stuff.
Women's Champs is this weekend, with Diana, Charissa, Angela, and Lauren going. Any other girls want to go?
Rainier Cup is the following weekend and as of now the following people have signed up. Dave, Scott, Charissa, Angela, Rachel, Brian, Spencer. If you have not signed up yet, you should. This is a great race, always a favorite. UCLA is sending a team, so it will be fun to race against them. Let me know if you want on the list.
Later,

The Rainier Cup is a month away, but we need to know who plans on going by the end of this coming week. Rainier Cup is the northwests only intersectional regatta which will be held this year at the Cascade Locks. Being an intersectional, it is always fun to race and socialize with the out of district schools. We will be camping at the local KOA, with the other teams.
Let me know if you plan to go by Friday March 23rd.
You can read more about it here.
Hope you had a good break.

Hi Scott,
In the past, your colleagues have been helpful in passing on our Summer Staff Openings to your team. It's that time of year and I'm hoping you can forward this on to the rest of your sailors. We have a number of collegiate racers and grads on our staff each summer. We are still looking for some of your up and coming sailors to join us on Cape Cod this coming summer.

Sailing Team,
Friday Harbor was great this last weekend. Not much sailing was accomplished as a result of strong wind and heavy seas. The race committee felt it was too intense, so instead we went bowling and sightseeing. It was a great time and a real bonding experience for the district. We did get one race in on Sunday before the wind got too strong. It was a good weekend overall. I have posted pictures here www.collegesailing.org/nwicsa and here http://cub.wsu.edu/wsusailing/photos.html so check em out.
This Saturday, however, we are having our own race. We will meet at the shop Saturday morning at 8 oclock leaving immediately, so be on time
Diana!! We are going to try to race most of the morning and we are going to mix things up a little bit. By that I mean we will be mixing up skippers and crews for each race. We will be having short course races to get as many rotations in as we can. Once around the windward mark and finish downwind. We will explain this if you dont know.
Let me know that you are going so I can plan accordingly. It should be a lot of fun. Any questions feel free to ask.
There will be a party Saturday night at my house. 9ish

Jeff Mixdorf went very well this weekend. No wind on Saturday, but plenty on Sunday. Almost everyone went for a swim on Sunday. Only 3 races were held in some very fluky conditions, though Dave and Charissa and Angela and myself were able to pull out a 7th out of 12. The rest of the team did very well though given the conditions and being most of there first time.
Results are post here:

Everyone that went, please send me your pictures so I can put them on the website. Ryan, be sure to send me the group picture!
Reluctantly I should also mention that Dave won our go kart racing on Friday. Though it probably had something to do with weight and friction.
Great job to everyone who went.

Sailing Club,
Just wanted to let you know that we are sending letters to family, friends, and various Northwest yacht clubs inviting them to make a donation to WSU Sailing. Many of you have given me names and addresses of your parents, so thanks for that. If you have not, please send me the name and address of any family member or friend you think might be interested in making a donation. We will be sending the letters next week, so try to get back to me by the end of this week.

Spencer you were going to email me the address. So now would be the time to do that.
Chase you put an email address, so maybe you could send me the address also.
Thanks,

We are planning on going sailing Sunday morning. Assuming there is enough wind, we will be meeting at the shop at 9:00 am. It will be cold so bring plenty of clothes, gloves, hats, and something to keep your feet warm. If you plan on going, let me know so I have an idea of how many people there will be.
